In October and November, «Nel giardino dei suoni» by Nicola Bellucci will be shown in competition at the Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival and the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Sao Paolo. It will also be featured at the Margaret Mead Film Festival in New York, the Festival dei Popoli in Florence and at the Festival de Cine Internacional de Ourense in Spain. On September 14, at 8.15 pm, «The Beauty of My Island» by Frank Matter will be shown at the Salon Precaire, Bahnhofstrasse 102, Frauenfeld. The screening is part of the ongoing show of Palazzo Zu, an art work by Klaus Lutz, organized by the Forum Andere Musik.

The Soap Factory production «Nel giardino dei suoni» by Nicola Bellucci was awarded the prestigious Prix de Soleure jury prize at this year’s Solothurn Film Festival. In its laudation, the jury writes,: «The film’s formal sophistication is captivating. With its imagery – and a brilliantly used soundtrack –, the film makes you experience the quite unique perceptional universe of Wolfgang Fasser. Thanks to the sensitive artistic approach of the director, the film becomes an unusual, sensual experience.» «Nel giardino dei suoni» also met with great approval from critics and the audience.

«Nel giardino dei suoni» by Nicola Bellucci has been nominated for this year’s Prix de Soleure jury prize. The prizewinner will be announced at the Solothurn Film Festival. «Nel giardino dei suoni» is playing in Solothurn on 22nd January 2010 at 9:30 at the Palace and on 27th January 2010 at 14:00 at the Landhaus. This will be the theatrical version’s national premiere.

SSA GRANT FOR «CHOCOLATE FOR NINA»

Peter Aschwanden’s documentary project «Chocolate for Nina» was awarded a development grant by the Société Suisse des Auteurs. The award ceremony takes place at this year’s Locarno International Film Festival. The Commission for Audiovision and Multimedia of the Cantons of Basel and Baselland is also supporting the development of the project. «Chocolate for Nina» is produced by soap factory GmbH.

In the category Short Movies, the television version of the soap factory production «Nel giardino dei suoni» by Nicola Bellucci has received a special mention at the first Basler Film Award Night. The jury writes, «The way how the portrayed therapist shows his solidarity (with his handicapped patients) and the aesthetic approach of the director to highlight a humanist view of the world, have enthused the jury.»
